lauren & tim: engaged!

Lauren and Tim are great friends from GVSU. I met Tim freshman year when we lived in the best dorm ever (along with a pretty awesome group of kids!) and attended Campus Ministry together. Not too long after that, I met Lauren through Campus Ministry as well. Sooner or later, these two crazy kids started dating and now... they are getting married! Yay!

I was honored when they invited me to be apart of their special day. But of course, we needed engagement pics first! The shoot started at Aman Park, just outside Grand Rapids and then we drove out to Holland to the pier on Lake Macatawa where Tim proposed just a couple months ago. Even though we braved the zero degree weather and blizzard-like conditions for this shoot, I had a blast!

Lauren & Tim, it's been a joy to watch two friends fall in love and journey together. I can't wait for your wedding in August!

This shot below may or may not have been Tim's idea. Don't tell him I told you!
This was THE ring shot that Lauren wanted. So great! :)
See the swans?? Perfect timing!
Helllllloooo, eyes! :)Finishing up the shoot... we were sufficiently cold and sufficiently snow-covered! :) Rachel (assistant extraordinaire!), Tim & Lauren... Yay, friends!

a sunday night show

Last night, I headed over to Wealthy Street Theatre for a concert event sponsored by emergent West Michigan. Since I've lived on the West Side of the state, I've attend Mars Hill Bible Church in Grandville. Yesterday morning, we had the pleasure of having a guest band, The Autumn Film, lead us in worship. Tifah, the lead singer had a beautiful, soulful voice and I just had to hear more! When there was mention of an evening concert downtown, I grabbed my roommate and we got there as soon as the doors opened @ 6pm!

The opening band was The Mines, a local band (which includes Troy Hatfield, a regular worship leader @ Mars Hill, on guitar & keys) followed by The Autumn Film. It was a simple show, but great nonetheless and a perfect way to end the weekend! Here are a few images from the show that I snapped from the second row :)

Oh, and ps: to hear some of The Autumn Film's sound and download some songs for free click here!

Troy... rockin' out!

coming soon!

I have two more engagement sessions in the editing process right now... so they should be on the blog soon!! :) Who can resist a little preview, though? It's been fun shooting winter images with the snow - and the couples have been great sports in the cold!

Stay tuned for...

allison & matt

A few weeks ago I spent a chilly winter afternoon in Birmingham with Allison & Matt for their engagement pictures. These two are so cute and so in love - it was a joy to photograph them! Matt is in the military and so we were able to schedule the shoot within the week that he was home for the holidays, which made the time more special! Though it was cold - they endured the weather to get some great shots!

Matt & Allison, it was great to meet you two and get to know you a bit! I can't wait for your wedding in July! Hopefully it will be a bit warmer then! :)
