Mr. & Mrs. Daley - assisting veldmanphoto

Friday night I had the chance to tag along with Abby & Todd of VeldmanPhoto as a second shooter. I've known Todd since elementary school as he was one of my older brothers good friends growing up. I briefly met Abby back in their dating days and have gotten to know her a little bit more as the years have gone on. A faithful follower of Abby's photography, I was excited when she allowed me to shadow her in a wedding back in July so I could get some more behind the scenes action. I was even more thrilled when she called and asked me to assist her for the Daley wedding since her main man, Todd was going on a last minute business trip. I was a little nervous since a Friday night wedding was going to make for a long weekend (I had to drive to Grand Rapids at 4am the next day to shoot another wedding!), but I'm so glad I went along. It is always beneficial to have more practice, plus Joe & Sarah were a treat to photograph - they were so natural in front of the camera. Thanks again, Abby for letting me join you!

Here are a just a few from my camera... You can see more of their pictures on Abby's blog.

new lens, same favorite kids

I spent the weekend up north at the family cottage. Even though I got my wisdom teeth out friday morning, I was up for the mini-vacation and I didn't want to miss out on family time! It was a great, relaxing weekend and so fun to watch the little ones enjoy the cottage like we all did when we were their age. Plus, being around cute kids allowed me to practice with my new lens(50mm, f1.4)! Enjoy a few snapshots of their adorable faces...

Welcome to Hockeytown!!

My boyfriend's dad's friend (are you following?) is the CFA for the Detroit Red Wings. As you may know, this year the Red Wing's were once again the Stanley Cup champions. The team gets a certain amount of days to tour with the cup and individuals can have the cup for a day or two each (players, coaches, managers, etc.). When Jonathan's dad found out that his CFA friend had the cup for the day, he knew his father-in-law HAD to see it. Jonathan's grandpa is a long time hockey fan. I hurried out to their house to snap a picture of this memorable moment since they didn't trust their point-and-shoot to do the job! I was excited to touch the cup, too! :)

the kiddos

I spent the afternoon with my mom and my neices and nephew. Of course I had the camera in hand, because let's be honest... they are my favorite subjects :)
