in front of the camera??

It's not often you find me in front of the camera... because I LOVE being behind the camera, of course! However, when it comes to family portraits, it would difficult to be in front of AND behind the camera. With the growing family, we knew our parents would LOVE to have a full family shot as grandparents... and having me as the photographer would not cut it. So last Christmas, we purchased a gift certificate from Melany Hallgren for a family portrait session! And this past Sunday, we finally all got together to make it happen. It was a beautiful day and the kids did great with all the pictures! Now, it may be a photographer faux pas to promote other photographers, but I have no shame - it's all about networking right? Melany is a fellow Detroit Wedding and Portrait photographer. Check her out sometime! But first, check out how good we look... :)

I love all the leaves, don't you?? Happy Tuesday!!

coming soon... mr. & mrs. ruberg!!

I spent this past friday in Zeeland, MI celebrating the union of two very special friends. I've been waiting for this wedding ever since Katie called me during Christmas break last year announcing that Dan had finally asked her to marry him! I knew after their engagement session that their wedding would be sooo fun to shoot. It was true - it was a joy to be apart of the day :). I haven't had a chance to sit down and go through many pictures, yet (balancing school, work, a social life and freelance jobs is hard!), but here is one to hold you over!

Mr. & Mrs. Zuiderveen

I had the privilege of shooting Ryan and Ashley's wedding a few weeks ago on the beautiful beach of Lake Michigan in Holland, MI. I met Ryan freshman year and together we held down the Campus Ministry office during my junior year as Office Extraordinaires :). When Ryan said that he and Ashley wanted to put me on the map as a wedding photographer, I was so excited. The day was perfect for an outdoor wedding and spirit's were good all around. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Congrats you two!

A few GVSU friends were the live music for the entire ceremony! Here's Johnathon and Tommy in action...
We rode to the reception in a trolley!!

Kayla Nicole

My sister-in-law, Nicole kindly asked me to take some headshots of her daughter, Kayla this past week. And of course I agreed! Kayla is a beautiful little girl and a joy to photograph :) I think her twin brother, Matthew was a little jealous that Kayla was getting all the camera attention, so he did a few poses for me, too. I'll have to upload those as well! Love you guys!
